Hansen’s research focuses on the relationship between crafting materiality and digital representation, and how experiential knowledge of crafts rooted in ceramics can be utilised in digital technologies. The research is practice-based and material-driven, and includes experimental 3D form-giving through the programming of responsive systems and 3D printing in clay, pointing to the importance of material properties as the driving force in the design process with new technologies.
